I’ve visited Kaifeng(Kaifeng City, Henan Province, China) several times now, and every time I’ve had my main meals outside the Qingming Shangheyuan scenic area. It’s nearly 6 PM and I’m still inside the scenic area — why not look for something delicious here?

I spotted a place called “San Wan Bu Guo Gang” (Three Bowls and You Can’t Cross the Ridge) — catchy name! Sitting by the window, you can also enjoy the view.

Tongzi chicken (barrel chicken) should be a Kaifeng specialty, right? When I visited Kaifeng last year, I ordered tongzi chicken as takeout — the texture was great and crispy, but it was too salty for me.

This one wasn’t as salty, but the flavor wasn’t as good as that place. Each has its own merits.

After eating for a long time, the carp braised noodles finally arrived. After all, it’s food inside the scenic area — still not as good as that home-style restaurant we ate at outside last year.

While eating, I suddenly remembered that I hadn’t seen the “Rolls-Royce” of Qingming Shangheyuan all day — the rickshaw.

I still remember my first visit in 2024, when I spent 200 yuan to ride one once — totally worth it. The rickshaw driver was extremely steady, explained things the whole way, and even gave us bottled water and fans. Passing certain spots, he’d even remind us where to take good photos.

After dinner, the lights outside came on. I saw a crowd of people standing on the nearby arched bridge — I wanted to go over too!

It turned out to be the fish lantern parade.

Sitting on the arched bridge enjoying the breeze, it suddenly got dark. The night view of Kaifeng Qingming Shangheyuan is really beautiful~

Turns out the “San Wan Bu Guo Gang” restaurant where we had dinner looks like this at night — so pretty.

Maybe they changed the designer — it doesn’t feel as nice as what I saw in August last year. Last year’s looked like this, matching especially well with the dragon girl hanfu (old style, the cut wasn’t quite right).

A light drizzle started. Walking around, there were so many giant flower lanterns — just big but ugly, a waste of money. I didn’t even want to take a single photo. I hope next time they’ll bring in a designer with better taste.

Tired from walking, I checked the Qingming Shangheyuan performance schedule — “Yue Fei: The Great Victory at Yancheng” was about to start.

I thought there wouldn’t be any good seats left, but there weren’t many people, and lots of the prime middle seats were empty. Great — thanks to the weather forecast predicting heavy rain and torrential rain, which scared away the timid ones.

I don’t know why other people don’t sit in the middle back rows — that’s the best C-spot, haha~
