Jellyfish in the Sea, Sea Worms on Shore—An Exciting Day in Qingdao

(September 2025) After eating at Tuandao Market (Qingdao City, Shandong Province, China), I picked up some figs on a whim and wandered around until I ended up at Zhanqiao Pier.

A crowd had gathered ahead—turned out a street singer was performing.

Suddenly a guy appeared, hovering around the female singer, but the audience kept saying “Can’t see, can’t see.”

Hahaha, today is the Northern “Ghost Festival” (Zhongyuan Festival), so “can’t see” is perfectly normal.

I sat there letting the breeze blow over me for a while, then went off shopping again.

Last time I noticed this Zhongshan Road Station Exit D was interesting, and this time we passed by it again.

Little did I know, Zhongshan Road Station Exit A was even more fun—it’s actually inside this red building!

This slope was really long, my legs were about to give out. Fortunately, there were plenty of photogenic spots along the way, so the effort wasn’t wasted.

By nearly 10 PM, I finally made it back to the hotel. Good thing I’d pre-ordered a late-night snack.

Wheat porridge, fig, snow fungus, jujube and pear soup, milk, sausage, pickled vegetables, and salted egg yolk. Very nice—nutritious but won’t turn me into a pig.

I figure this afternoon’s spread was about the same, but I couldn’t eat it since I was stuck on the fishing boat.

Time to sleep, and tomorrow go swimming…

After breakfast at the hotel, I went back for another nap, then set off for the First Bathing Beach.

The swimsuit I bought here last year—the same style is still being sold, haha. I have great taste~

This shop is very close to the First Bathing Beach, and you can also store luggage and shower there. Very convenient.

Swimming in the sea takes effort, so I brought a swim ring.

While I was backstroking about 20 meters offshore, fortunately a guy shouted “Jellyfish, watch out for jellyfish!”

It took me a few seconds to react. I looked—and it had to be at least 35cm in diameter? Such a huge jellyfish!

Thanks to that kind guy’s warning! But before I could say thank you, he’d already swum away…

Kept swimming until nearly 4 PM, hungry and cold, so I took the metro to go eat.

Given that last time the seafood at a roadside stall wasn’t fresh, wasn’t very tasty, and portions were small, today I’m heading back to Tuandao Market!

I noticed that small octopuses are more expensive than large ones, and the little ones often move in a “jet-propelled” way.

By the way, the small octopus here is called “badai” locally. After stir-frying, it looks even better.

I also bought some sea worm earlier. Sea worm mixed rice is seriously delicious!

The ribbonfish I bought at the market this time (called “daoyu” in Qingdao dialect) wasn’t as tasty as the ones we caught ourselves last time, but still very delicious~

Truly delicious—“Hexiangchun”‘s cooking skills remain as consistently good as ever!

After eating, back to the hotel to grab luggage and souvenirs, then take a ride home. I’ll definitely come back to Qingdao for travel next time~
